Our Origin Story
-
In 2018, HD Career Consulting LLC was created by Bree who had a desire to reshape what career development supports looked like She began her career in adult career development within higher education. She learned quickly that many career services primarily focused on traditional students. Individuals who were already working while attending school, with intersectional experiences that did not fit conventional student development models, were often under-supported. These same programs were typically under-resourced, failing to address the complex needs of adults navigating their career development amidst various responsibilities and life circumstances.
In 2018, she left higher ed and launched HD Career Consulting LLC with a focus on helping adults who work get unstuck and find meaningful and sustainable work. MyHDCareer.com emerged from that initiative in 2020, offering individualized coaching through a proprietary career development planning and search framework called the #1job1offer. This coaching system remains integral to our programs today.
In 2023, we transitioned to a holistic support model and rebranded from MyHDCareer.com to WorkLife Wellness Lab. Our approach addresses the adult working experience from a restorative and holistic perspective. We have integrated the values of wellness, empowerment, and systemic support into our services and mission, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive assistance tailored to their unique situations.
Bree developed and tested every aspect of the programs offered, building them from the ground up using her subject matter expertise in adult career development and program design. She drew on evidence-based practices from various fields, including career psychology, learning and cognition, behavioral psychology, and theories of emotional wellness. Her commitment to integrating these diverse disciplines creates a robust framework that fosters growth, resilience, and fulfillment within career paths has served hundreds of adults a each year.
